Mathletics

Mathletics is an online interactive programme that can be accessed by either a computer or a tablet. Children each have an individual login and their mathematics work is tailored for their ability and year group. Each week teachers set activities that need to be completed as part of the children’s homework. Once these tasks have been completed then the rest of the activities can be accessed, including the very popular ‘Live Mathletics’ section. In ‘Live Mathletics’ children can compete against other children both in our school and around the world.

Over the course of each week, children earn points which will earn them certificates.

Bronze and silver certificates are celebrated in class whilst the gold certificates are presented in our weekly Friday Celebration Assembly.

Maths Calculation Policy

Teachers at St Anne's use the long term plan and activities from The White Rose in conjunction with Abacus and Numicon to plan and resource their lessons.

Termly PUMA maths assessments and AFL are used to track progress in Y1 – 6. Termly pupil progress meetings and monitoring of interventions take place to monitor progress and the impact of interventions.  Same day intervention for maths has been introduced (when possible) to support children in keeping up with the maths content they are learning and to help reduce the attainment gap. Two teaching assistants have attended training on the Y2 intervention 1stclass@Number which focuses on raising attainment in number and early calculation.  After school clubs take place in Y3, 4 & 6 to promote problem solving skills and challenge higher ability pupils who could potentially achieve greater depth. Workshops for parents have taken place in EYFS focusing on early number skills and activities parents can use at home to support children’s learning. Also there has been a workshop based on number for KS1 parents demonstrating some of the methods for teaching addition and subtraction, and practical advice on how parents can support their children’s learning at home.
