Early Years

Welcome to our Nursery class. Our class teacher is Miss Dromey, supported by Miss Parr, Mrs Lewis. In Nursery, we focus our teaching on the prime areas of ‘Development Matters’, helping the children under our care secure these key skills they will need their school career. We also teach lessons in the specific areas, giving the children early skills in mathematics, literacy, expressive art and design and understanding of the world. Our learning is play based, taking part in our colourful and engaging learning environment designed with the children’s learning in mind. Children are given the freedom to select which area they would like to learn in, assisted by our caring and supportive team. Welcome to our page!

Hi, we’re the Reception team at St Anne’s. In our Fabulous Foundation team we have Mrs Ball, Miss Bowman, Mrs Collins, Mrs Hough, Miss Marshall. Here in the Reception class we do lots of fun learning through both the prime and specific areas of the Development Matters. Our curriculum is based both indoors and outdoors in all weathers.

In Reception we encourage our pupils to explore their learning environment, to help develop their own interest. We scaffold this through both independent and supported play based activities. All our children are ready, able and eager to learn. They are encouraged to interact with their peers and explore the world around them. All our children are individuals and we support their learning journey, giving them the skills to become learners for life!

Our EYFS lead teacher is assistant headteacher Mrs Radcliffe, she is also responsible for inclusion and is a designated CP lead in school.

Reception and Nursery had a wonderful time today! All the children enjoyed a range of activities and many needed a quick nap on the way home! All staff were very proud of the children’s wonderful behaviour.

Our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) has a new email set up for parents.
We want you to share any star moments in your child’s learning by sending us pictures that we can print off and put into your child’s Learning Journey file.
It is an opportunity for you to share moments that you are proud of or want us to know about what they do at home.
