In Year 3 we have been learning all about rocks and soils!

We learnt about the amazing Jurassic coast on the south coast of England, where you can take a walk through 250 million years!

Then we investigated different types of rocks to find out about their properties of hardness, heaviness (floatability), whether they were waterproof and 'fizziness' (whether they contained chalk).

After that, we looked at different types of soils and tried to identify them using a branching diagram. It was very tricky!

Finally, we learnt about the different types of rocks. These are; igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic. We had a cookery lesson to learn about how they are formed and made our own 'rocks'.

We can't wait to learn about the formation of fossils!

In Year 3 we think Geology Rocks! What do you think?
