On the 17th of October, Year Five were doing a performance led by Maisie. They introduced themselves by saying, their name and what they like. At the end of the performance they were told they would be showing this to the school and parents. At first, they practised a song that you respond to. Soon after, they rehearsed the first two moves of the dance. When they were confident they moved on.
The dance was based on harvest. However, there were readings to be given out. They went over their readings continuously until they were word perfect. Maisie didn’t shout if we they something wrong. Throughout the rehearsing I was joyful and glad I was doing the performance.
Maisie then told Year Five a story, set in Africa. We all listened delicately, and quietly. Meanwhile everyone closed their eyes, and they all imagined different stories. I felt very nervous and scared that I was going to forget my lines, completely, in front of everyone.
During the performance, I felt embarrassed; this is because people were laughing. When the show began Maisie was thrilled with our acting and scripts- also dancing, although I was petrified.
Throughout, the performance our class were wonderful. I enjoyed the dancing best.
Have you ever done a performance in one day?
