Before half term year 4 and 5 were invited to visit Bridgewater Hall. While we were there we learnt all about a special instrument called an organ. It is very difficult to play. The musician can use their hands and feet at the same time to create the sounds. Did you know that the organ at Bridgewater Hall has 5500 pipes?

We were very lucky, as we got to watch and listen to a performance where Jonathan Scott played the organ. It sounded amazing and was magnificent to watch.

On Thursday and Friday, year 4 and 5 were able to meet the staff of Bridgewater Hall again to begin our project. Later this month, we will be performing in the the very same theatre using a range of different instruments.

We started by learning about sound waves, pitch and how to read music. In the afternoon, we wrote our own piece of music and heard Tom play it on the piano. It was great to hear a piece of music that we wrote ourselves! We also had the opportunity to play music as a group using a variety of different instruments and even some that we brought from home. We can't wait to work with Tom again, when we will start to create the music we will play at Bridgewater Hall!
