In Year 3 we have been learning to write descriptions of contrasting settings.

Mrs Haggett was so impressed with our use of well-chosen adjectives and adverbs and adverbials of time to show passing of time and dramatic moments.

Here is one for you to read. More to follow.

I settled down out of the shadows of the looming rocks.I laid out on my towel, resting after swiming in the freezing, darkened water.I really needed to warm up! A few minutes passed. I felt the extreme heat crushing me and a strong breeze whipping my hair.As I sat up my eyes were fixed on the eerie ocean. At that instant I could hear the childrens shrieks of terror whilst they darted into the darkened, wild sea as shadowy clouds took over the sky.I searched the ocean it was the same as the sky.I spotted the children's legs splash with foam as they darted into the immense ocean.Suddenly I saw a huge shadow behind the children."GET OUT OF THE WATER!" I yelled as I raced to save them. It was a terrifying day!
