As part of our history topic, we have been learning about rationing during World War 2. Certain foods and clothes were rationed so that there was enough for everybody to get a fair share. People were encouraged to grow their own vegetables and mend old clothes.

Learning Chinese
In year 5 this week we started to learn Chinese. We were really excited about having our first lesson using skype with our chinese teacher in Beijing. He has given us all our own chinese names. We can't wait to have another lesson and learn something new next week!

The Post Office
Reception went for a trip to the Post Office today. We have been learning about people who help us and we have been reading 'The Jolly Postman'.
We were really sensible walking to and from the Post Office and our teachers were very pleased with us.

A fun-filled and action packed space themed week had the children very excited. There was a real rocket in our playground, we made rockets, discovered space in a planetarium and even took on a school run to the international space station which included the children running…

The children were treated to an inflatable obstacle course for good behaviour. They enjoyed completing the course and racing each other. I even got to try out the course myself! They completed a variety of exercises and had fun cheering their class mates on!

Volcanic Eruptions!
In class this week we have completed our geography topic of volcanoes, earthquakes and tsunamis! We worked really hard but had lots of fun too - including designing and making our own volcanoes (and exploding them)!
